Characters

Hiro Yoshijima
The protagonist of the novel, Hiro is a cheerful 24 year old who is a rising star in the Tokyo Police Force. In high school, he was in the archery club and has developed phenomenal reflexes. Three years ago, he met his future fiancĂ©e Kaori Akiyama and she moved with him to Tokyo. Hiro’s father was a former police sergeant and Hiro has always dreamed of being a police officer. Often mistaken as a punk because of his blonde hair, Hiro is a cheerful and optimistic guy.

Kaori Akiyama
After she and Hiro moved to Tokyo three years ago, Kaori has been working as an office lady. All her life, she had imagined herself staying in her small city and becoming a seamstress like her mother and her grandmother before her. But when the opportunity presented itself to move to Tokyo, she took it without hesitation. Like Hiro, Kaori is extremely cheerful and it is this personality that has put her on a rise at her job, her cheerfulness having secured quite a few important contracts. Her short hair only adds to her enthusiastic aura.

Raizo Yamaguchi
Raizo is a former covert operations soldier for a now defunct United Nations joint taskforce. Despite his dangerous looking scar down his right eye, he seems like a nice guy. He got the scar from saving a cat from a tree for an old lady. Raizo doesn’t talk much and usually walks around in a black rain jacket. Despite his silence, he exudes an aura of self-confidence and leadership and it is no surprise that he was the de facto leader of Post. He has long black hair which usually covers his eyes.

Youchi Suzuki
Youchi has long blonde hair and a scar down his left eye. Unlike Raizo’s thin and straight scar, Youchi’s scar is jagged and thicker. The origin of Youchi’s scar is unknown but it seems related to his obstinate support for Ante. As a faction with constantly shifting and leaving members, Ante would be in disarray were it not for Youchi’s steady leadership. Youchi’s back is covered in scars from the nape of his neck to his lower back. The origins of these scars are also unknown.

Kengo Suzuki
Youchi’s father, Kengo, exists only in Youchi’s memory. In Youchi’s memories/flashbacks, Kengo is a well-built sailor in the Japanese navy. He wears a large ring which was originally a large caliber round that medical personnel pulled out of Kengo’s biceps after his tour of duty ended in an injury. Kengo has an intimidating build and face and is a habitual drunk and womanizer.

Sammi Sheffield
An American, Sammi was born in Japan and is the daughter of the former US ambassador to Japan. She has long, curly blonde hair and an athletic build. She’s extremely enthusiastic but gets quiet when people mention her parents. In a terrorist raid on the US embassy by the Aum Shinrikyo, both of her parents were killed. However, she says that she’s gotten over it.

Asami Sato
Asami has short blond hair and despite her cute physical appearance, she is somewhat of a tsundere. When she was 3 years old, both her parents died and she lived at an orphanage. Up until college, she had been alone and no one adopted her. Because of her cuteness and the fact that she had no parents, everyone assumed she was the result of an illicit relationship with a prostitute and no one wanted to bring shame into their family by adopting her. When she was 19, she met the only guy who was, up till then, unconditionally kind to her. She ended up going out with him, but a year later, he was mugged and killed. Since then, she hasn't trusted anyone.

Rika Yamamoto
Despite her beautiful and graceful figure, her long black hair, and her breathtaking face, Rika is the clumsiest girl in Post. Because of her beauty, she is often approached by shady underground movie directors and she was once almost tricked to star in an adult video when she was saved by Raizo. Since then, she’s stayed in Post out of loyalty to Raizo. However, she sees Raizo as more of a brother than a lover.
